The Sun Company at RE+ 2025: Leading the Conversation on Resilient Energy and Storage Innovation
The Sun Company is heading to Las Vegas this September for RE+ 2025, the largest clean energy event in North America — and we’re proud to share that two of our leaders will be on stage shaping the dialogue around the future of renewable energy.
Kevin Meagher, Chief Science Officer, will join the Microgrid Use Cases workshop on Monday, September 8, where he’ll spotlight one of The Sun Company’s most ambitious projects yet: an Independent Renewable Energy Power Plant (IREPP™) microgrid. Beginning as a 5 MW system with PV, geothermal, energy storage, and thermal generation, this project will support a data center, manufacturing, and warehouse facility — with a pathway to expand into a 50 MW microgrid. Kevin’s industrial case study will highlight how mission-critical infrastructure can be designed for resilience, scalability, and clean energy integration.
The following day, Tuesday, September 9, CEO Joley Michaelson will join Kevin to present “Solving the Small Footprint, Long Duration Challenge: The Strategic Value of LDES.” Together, they’ll explore how long-duration energy storage (LDES) is becoming essential for commercial and industrial users facing rising demand charges and grid instability. They’ll introduce an emerging zinc polyiodide redox flow battery technology — a modular, non-flammable, and space-efficient solution offering 10+ hours of true energy duration for applications ranging from EV fleet charging to schools, hospitals, and data centers.
